EnviroScience proudly announces that our founder, Martin “Marty” Hilovsky, has been honored with the Ohio Lake Management Society (OLMS) Lifetime Achievement Award at the 53rd Annual Water Association of Ohio (WMAO) Meeting and Symposium. This prestigious accolade recognizes Marty’s significant contributions to environmental science and his unwavering commitment to preserving Ohio’s natural resources.
Marty’s journey began with his academic training as a biologist and ecologist at Kent State University. He served as a state regulator with the Ohio EPA and later as a consultant for NASA. In 1989, he founded EnviroScience, Inc., which has since evolved into a nationally recognized leader in lake management, harmful algae blooms, ecological restoration, endangered species consulting, bioassay testing, and regulatory compliance. Marty is acclaimed for commercializing the “MiddFoil Process,” a method employing native weevils to control Eurasian water milfoil.
Under Marty’s leadership, EnviroScience has grown into a team of over 160 professionals dedicated to delivering innovative environmental solutions nationwide. His vision fostered a culture of “Empowered Employees,” emphasizing teamwork, client advocacy, respect, accountability, quality, and safety. Marty’s philosophy is encapsulated in his belief: “I never thought of it as ‘my’ company…it was and continues to be our company.”
The award ceremony took place at the 53rd Annual WMAO Meeting and Symposium in Worthington, Ohio, and was attended by EnviroScience’s Director of Laboratory Services, Jen Vydra, and Algal/Toxin Operations Manager, Brad Bartelme. Their presence underscored the company’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and excellence.
EnviroScience remains dedicated to upholding the high standards set by Marty, continuing to provide exceptional environmental consulting services, and contributing positively to our communities. The entire team at EnviroScience congratulates him on this well-earned and deserved award. Congratulations, Marty!
