A great prelude to National Engineers Week, EnviroScience proudly sponsored the 24th Annual Summit County Engineer’s 2025 Miniature Bridge Building Competition (#MBBC) at the Summit County Fairgrounds in Tallmadge, Ohio, this week.

Designed to help “bridge” the gap in STEM education by facilitating an environment that fosters enthusiasm for the field of engineering, the competition was open to all high school students in Summit County, Ohio. Each school was permitted to register three teams, under the guidance of their educators, who acted as mentors and oversaw their design and construction processes.

In our shared effort to help “bridge” the gap in STEM education through hands-on learning that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration, EnviroScience Business Development Manager Greg Hocevar and Transportation Project Manager Mike Naymik were honored to serve as judges at the February 12, 2025, event. Bridges were tested for “structural efficiency, creativity, and adherence to design criteria.”

EnviroScience is actively involved in community outreach programs such as these, as we recognize the impact they inevitably have on the shape of tomorrow’s workforce. Hundreds of young people have experienced the joy of designing and building bridges through this program throughout the years, and thousands of dollars in prizes and college scholarships have been awarded.

Congratulations to this year’s participants and winners. The world awaits your creativity and future innovations!
