Kevin Wienhold

Water Resources Engineer

EnviroScience Water Resources Engineer Kevin Wienhold, PEKevin Wienhold, P.E., has served as Water Resources Engineer on our Compliance team since 2022. Kevin specializes in low-impact development and green infrastructure with an emphasis on weaving nature back into our built environment.

With over a decade of experience, he provides hydrologic and hydraulic analysis for floodplain permitting and stream restoration, performs civil site design and stormwater management, and assists clients and communities in achieving environmental regulatory compliance with SWPPPs and SPCCs.

His favorite part about working at EnviroScience is having instant access to teammates with diverse technical backgrounds; whether it’s wetland ecologists, algal taxonomists, or freshwater mussel experts, he loves the opportunity to collaborate for the success of a project to generate designs that are both sustainable and that promote public health and safety.

Prior to joining EnviroScience, Kevin worked as a project engineer in North Carolina, assisting on a variety of water and wastewater projects, including the design of a 20 MGD lift station, designing stormwater infrastructure for major roads and railways, water distribution and fire flow modeling, and no-rise and bridge scour studies.

As a graduate of the water resources engineering master’s program at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), Kevin gained professional engineering experience, first as a research assistant and later as a consultant. He found tremendous fulfillment studying the impacts of urbanization along the Trinity River, participated in the development of an advanced flood warning system, processed flood inundation maps ranging from “nuisance floods” to extreme events such as Hurricane Harvey, and helped launch one of the first drone academic research programs in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex for the acquisition of flood prediction data, RTK-grade surveying, river morphology and change detection, wetland delineation and other water-related issues.

Kevin is a licensed Professional Engineer in North Carolina and Ohio and holds a commercial remote pilot certificate. Kevin graduated from Cleveland State University with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and earned a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from UTA. His research in water resources and remote sensing has been published in the Journal of Hydrology.

Few environmental firms in the country retain EnviroScience’s degree of scientific know-how, talent, and capability under one roof. The diverse backgrounds of our biologists, environmental engineers, scientists, and divers enable us to provide comprehensive in-house services and an integrated approach to solving environmental challenges—saving clients time, reducing costs, and ensuring high-quality results.

Our client guarantee is to provide “Excellence in Any Environment,” meaning no matter what we do, we will deliver on our Core Values of respect, client advocacy, quality work, accountability, teamwork, and safety. EnviroScience was created with the concept that we could solve complex problems by empowering great people. This concept still holds true today as our scientists explore the latest environmental legislation and regulations and incorporate the most up-to-date technology to gather and report data.

EnviroScience expertise includes but is not limited to aquatic surveys (including macroinvertebrate surveys and biological assessments); ecological restoration; ecological services (including impact assessments, invasive species control, and water quality monitoring);  emergency response; engineering and compliance services; endangered mussel surveys; laboratory and analysis; stormwater management; threatened and endangered species; and wetlands and streams (including delineation and mitigation). Further, EnviroScience is one of the few biological firms in the country that is a general member of the Association of Diving Contractors International (ADCI) and offers full-service commercial diving services.
