Grant Lykins brings a rich tapestry of environmental expertise as Senior Ecologist at EnviroScience’s new Central Florida service area. Joining our team in 2024 with over fifteen years of wide-ranging experience in project management, wildlife research, and ecological restoration, Grant is poised to lead our efforts in advancing environmental stewardship across the state.
With a bachelor’s degree in biology, Grant has developed a specialized skill set that includes conducting detailed ecological assessments and habitat management. He is a Certified Prescribed Burn Manager and an Authorized Gopher Tortoise Agent, skilled in humanely relocating and managing these protected species. His expertise extends to the management of native environments, evident in his successful oversight of one of the most extensive gopher tortoise relocation programs and significant upland wildlife habitat mitigation projects.
Grant’s proficiency in using advanced acoustic survey methods for bats, specifically the Florida Bonneted Bat, is complemented by his experience in environmental compliance and land management. He is well-versed in the complexities of environmental permitting and has a keen ability to navigate regulatory frameworks efficiently.
At our Central Florida Regional Office, Grant will offer a comprehensive suite of services, including but not limited to:
- Wildlife habitat assessments and ecological studies, focusing on species like the Crested Caracara, Burrowing Owl, Southeastern American Kestrel, and the Florida Scrub-jay.
- Environmental impact evaluations and mitigation planning.
- Expert management of land reclamation projects aimed at restoring native scrub habitats and managing water resources effectively.
- Protected species surveys and relocations.
- Implementation of prescribed burns and other habitat management techniques to enhance biodiversity and ecosystem health.
Grant’s background also encompasses emergency rescue training and stormwater management, ensuring readiness and resilience in managing environmental projects under diverse conditions. His leadership and project management skills are invaluable in steering our initiatives towards success and sustainability.
