EnviroScience Project Designer Mike TrumpOn November 16, 2022, the employee-led Corporate Responsibility Committee (CRC) at EnviroScience resumed its annual “Mike Trump Chili Cookoff,” named in loving memory of the late project designer, dear friend, and first-year chili cookoff winner. This charitable event to raise funds for the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank had been postponed for two years due to COVID-19.

2022 Mike Trump Chili Cookoff Winners Brad & Elise Bartelme Share the Coveted Wooden Spoon PrizeFifteen EnviroScience staff members tried to concoct the best chili, and employees paid $10 to taste each one and determine the winner. Brad Bartelme and Elise Bartelme, walked away with the coveted, first-place wooden spoon with their Belize-inspired chili, with Alison Frohn and Greg Hocevar placing second and third.

The CRC’s goal was to raise $1,000 for the foodbank, but true to the good nature of our employees and the spirit of EnviroScience as a company, the committee was thrilled to present $952 to the foodbank on December 1st (Double Dollar Day), which was matched for a total of $1,904! This will provide 7,616 meals for people in need just in time for the holidays.

Running concurrently with this exciting event was a “Coats for Kids” drive on behalf of Catholic Charities Diocese of Youngstown for children in Portage County and a food drive to support our ongoing monthly participation in the Bulldog Bags program. Bulldog Bags, Inc. is an all-volunteer-managed, community, nonprofit business organized to address food insecurity in children in the Stow-Munroe Falls City School District.

Hats off to Emma Kennedy for spearheading these initiatives and being such a superstar at the helm of the CRC. She epitomizes our Core Values as a company with her dedication to helping others, and we are honored and lucky to have her as part of the EnviroScience family.
