EnviroScience Environmental Inspection Project ManagerMatt Banas, a graduate of Kent State University with a degree in Conservation Biology, joined EnviroScience’s Environmental Inspection Group in January 2015, where his primary responsibility is managing and performing environmental inspections of construction sites in the utility industry.

Matt provides construction oversight and compliance monitoring throughout all phases of construction. He is also responsible for reviewing and sending weekly progress and environmental compliance reports to director-level employees and government agency personnel, as well as managing non-NPDES (National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System) Pipeline Infrastructure Replacement (PIR) projects in the Cleveland, Ohio region. He is familiar with Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and Best Management Practices (BMPs) used in erosion and sediment control on active construction sites through schooling and training.

Matt began his career completing wetland restoration and performing invasive plant management in wetlands across Ohio. He also assisted with native plantings, stream restoration, and endangered species surveys. While at The Nature Conservancy, he volunteered to work with invasive plant management at Herrick Fen. Additionally, he has received training for Primary Headwater Habitat Biological Assessment through the Ohio EPA and Asbestos Asphalt Coated-Pipe Wrap Removal through TSI, as well as being a Certified Erosion, Sediment, and Stormwater Inspector (CESSWI) through Envirocert.

Matt also holds a life-long passion for life outdoors. When he is not catching up on the latest nature documentary or backpacking across the backwoods of Pennsylvania, Matt enjoys smoking up some tasty meats on his Trager Pro 575 for his wife and two kids.
