Channel modification and habitat degradation are considered the greatest impairments to water quality. Many streams have lost their ability to support functions such as providing critical habitat, recreation, drinking water supply, and flood control by impacts to the balance of sediment and discharge relationship—resulting in the need for stream restoration.

The Stream Restoration biologists at EnviroScience employ a multidisciplinary approach to fluvial systems that allows for the assessment, design, and implementation of restoration projects. We use proven restoration methods to revitalize degraded systems or improve existing conditions. Assessing stream habitat is an important step in biomonitoring and stream restoration projects. EnviroScience has over 30 years of experience evaluating in-stream and riparian habitats. Our biologists can evaluate stream habitats from small headwater streams to major river systems like the Allegheny and Ohio rivers. We use underwater video and GIS/GPS mapping in conjunction with standard evaluation forms such as Qualitative Habitat Evaluation (QHEI) to provide both a visual and descriptive analysis of project area habitats.
