EnviroScience Aquatic Biologist & Algal Taxonomist Brad Bartelme

A valued member of our Laboratory Services team, Brad Bartelme is an aquatic biologist with extensive experience in algal taxonomy and aquatic ecology. He graduated from John Carroll University with two degrees—a B.S. degree in Biology and Environmental Science with a concentration in Chemistry and an M.S. degree in Biology.

Brad’s expertise extends to long-term water quality monitoring, encompassing a wide range of skills and knowledge, including experience in fish and aquatic macroinvertebrate surveys, identification and enumeration of fish, macroinvertebrates, periphyton, and phytoplankton, chlorophyll-a analysis, Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) and toxin analyses, microscopy and microbiology techniques, as well as field sampling methods and techniques.

EnviroScience Aquatic Biologist & Algal Taxonomist Brad BartelmeAdditionally, Brad is a certified Ohio EPA Level 3 Fish expert with proficiency in all methods related to fish sampling, data collection, and research.

Since he started at EnviroScience in 2014, Brad has helped with a multitude of projects—including all five U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) National Aquatic Resource Surveys (NARS), the National Rivers and Streams Assessment (NRSA), the National Coastal Conditions Assessment (NCCA), the National Wetland Conditions Assessment (NWCA), and the National Lakes Assessment (NLA).

EnviroScience was thrilled to welcome Senior Herpetologist and Project Manager Stan Boder to the team in 2022.

Stan is a well-known expert in the field of herpetology and brings over 23 years of experience in the field of herpetology. He qualified to survey and monitor for a variety of species including the Timber Rattlesnake, Northern Copperhead, Queen Snake, Bog turtle, Blanding’s Turtle, Wood Turtle, and Eastern Box Turtle.

Stan has worked extensively in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Southeast regions of the United States. He has performed and managed ecological and herpetological activities on a wide variety of projects including long corridor projects; specifically, oil and gas transmission rights-of-ways, DOT projects, and private development.

Chuck Howard

EnviroScience Senior Scientist Chuck Howard

EnviroScience welcomed Chuck Howard back as a Senior Scientist at our Tennessee regional office in 2022.

Chuck brings 25 years of experience in environmental conservation, compliance, endangered species, and project management. He’s conducted field surveys and impact assessments in aquatic habitats across 19 states of the eastern U.S. for clients in the industrial, energy, transportation, government, public, and private sectors.

During his previous tour with EnviroScience, Chuck worked extensively with federally and state-listed freshwater mussels throughout the U.S. and managed large, complex projects with potential aquatic impacts.

Chuck’s extensive background in permitting coordination and compliance with the Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, National Environmental Pollution Act, and other federal and state requirements stems from his roles in consulting and tenure with the Biological Compliance unit at the Tennessee Valley Authority. His valuable insights and pragmatic approach will effectively lead ES clients through environmental compliance processes.

Alex Tite

EnviroScience Laboratory Technical Supervisor

Alex Tite is our Laboratory Technical Supervisor and has been with EnviroScience since 2015.

Alex joined the team as a laboratory technician and moved into the supervisor position in July 2021. In this role, she is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of services performed by laboratory personnel meet rigorous standards for quality assurance and quality control and that bioassay tests are conducted in accordance with the appropriate state and federal environmental regulations. She is also responsible for overseeing proficiency testing and annual DMR QA tests that state and federal certifying agencies require.

Alex graduated from Kent State University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Conservation Biology and a minor in Geography. Her education has led her to pursue a career in environmental biology and her role in the laboratory. Our laboratory division focuses primarily on toxicity testing, specializing in National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) evaluations and doing full-scale toxicity evaluations (TIE/TRE).

Since Alex has been a part of the ES team, she has had the opportunity to work on a couple of exciting projects as well, including the Dredged Sediment Toxicity and Bioaccumulation Tests (May-June 2015) and the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control Sediment Toxicity Tests (July-August 2018).  While working at EnviroScience, Alex has also received certification through OEPA to conduct ELISA Immunoassay Testing for Cyanotoxin detection.

Maddie Genco

EnviroScience Macroinvertebrate Team Lead Maddie GencoMaddie Genco, MS, joined EnviroScience in 2021 and serves as our Macroinvertebrate Team Lead. She is passionate about field and lab work, specializing in freshwater macroinvertebrate collection, identification, and bioassessment.

Previously, Maddie worked with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) for three years, where she performed aquatic insect surveys to monitor streams throughout the state in support of the Clean Water Act.

Maddie earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2014 from SUNY Oneonta and a Master of Science in Entomology from Clemson University in 2018. Her research centered on aquatic insect taxonomy with a strong focus on caddisflies.

Prior to graduate school, Maddie held internships with the Cape Cod National Park Service (NPS) and Center for Coastal Studies, where she was responsible for water quality monitoring and identification of freshwater macroinvertebrates and saltwater invertebrates along the Atlantic Coast from Cape Cod to the Bay of Fundy.

Maddie has the Society of Freshwater Science certifications for Eastern Mayflies, Stoneflies, Caddisflies (EPT), and Midges (Chironomidae) and is working toward her Other Eastern Arthropod certification. She has OEPA certification for QHEI and HHEI and is working toward Ohio EPA Level 3 Macroinvertebrate certification.

Nicole Stolic


Nicole Stolic is an experienced biologist with 15 years of field and project management experience. She graduated from Kent State University with a B.S. in Biology and an Executive Master of Business Administration. Nicole has extensive experience managing and coordinating large-scale, multi-state sampling projects.

For the past nine years, she has been a project manager for contractor field support on aquatic resource surveys, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) National Rivers and Streams Assessment (NRSA), the National Coastal Conditions Assessment (NCCA), and the National Lakes Assessment (NLA).

Additionally, Nicole has been a field team lead for numerous fish and macroinvertebrate stream surveys, a crew member for 316(b) impingement and entrainment fish studies, and has performed taxonomic identification of ichthyoplankton and aquatic macroinvertebrates. She is also experienced in technical writing, data analysis, and budget management. 

Nicole is a USFWS-approved surveyor for the federally threatened Big Sandy and federally endangered Guyandotte River Crayfish. Furthermore, she holds Ohio EPA Level 3 certifications in Macroinvertebrates (Collection and Data Evaluation) as well as Chemical Water Quality Assessment, demonstrating her expertise in both the collection and evaluation of macroinvertebrate data and chemical water quality assessment methods.

Scott LaValley, MS

EnviroScience Malacologist Scott LaValleyScott LaValley, MS, has served as a Malacologist and valued member of EnviroScience since April 2023. Scott specializes in conducting and leading freshwater mussel surveys and report writing. His favorite part of working at EnviroScience is traveling to new areas to survey rivers and working with new freshwater mussel species.

Scott earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology – Natural Resources in 2017 and a Master of Science in Conservation Biology in 2022 from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.

While at CMU, he worked in a research laboratory studying freshwater mussels with a team of undergraduate and graduate researchers. Research topics focused on the impacts of spatial ecology, genetics, and environmental toxicology on freshwater mussels.

EnviroScience Malacologist Scott LaValleyBefore working at EnviroScience, he worked as a laboratory technician at CMU, leading mussel surveys and outreach programs, and at the Harrison Lake National Fish Hatchery as a biologist through Virginia Tech, where he performed day-to-day operations, stocked propagated mussels, and wrote reports for the South River Restoration Project. Scott is also a permitted surveyor for Groups 1 and 3 Streams in the State of Ohio.

Scott holds a life-long passion for nature, foraging for mushrooms, and birding. When he is not outdoors, Scott enjoys expanding his cooking knowledge and spending time with friends and family.

Greg Zimmerman

EnviroScience Vice President Greg Zimmerman

Greg Zimmerman is Vice President of EnviroScience, Inc., where he coordinates major projects and company-wide initiatives. Greg manages the Marine Services Group, which includes a team of 10 full-time commercial and scientific diving staff. Greg has been with EnviroScience since 1996 and specializes in the fields of aquatic survey, diving, and freshwater mussel identification. 

An approved USFWS freshwater mussel surveyor, Greg has worked extensively with over 90 species throughout the U.S.—including seven federally listed and numerous state-listed species. He has designed and managed some of the largest Endangered Species Act and biological monitoring survey projects completed to date in North America. Additionally, Greg has completed eleven Biological Assessments for transportation-related projects, and he has assisted numerous other clients with projects where aquatic impacts were anticipated. 

Greg received a master’s degree from Kent State University in GIS / Biology and an undergraduate degree from Hiram College. He has created GIS environments for a wide range of applications, including wetlands, larval fish migration, 316a and 316b, benthic habitat, depth surveys, and natural resource inventories.

Greg has over 16 years of diving experience, including surface-supplied and hardhat diving, and he maintains a number of specialty dive certifications. He is an active member of the Freshwater Mollusk Conservation Society (where he is Secretary and serves on the Techniques and Guidelines Committee), the Association of Diving Contractors International (ADCI), and the Ohio River Valley Ecosystem Mollusk Group. Greg was also an adjunct faculty member at Hiram College, where he taught an upper-level course in biomonitoring.

Jamie Krejsa

Jamie Krejsa is President of EnviroScience, Inc. From his early years with the company and in his role as Director of Ecological Services, Jamie has been central to the growth of EnviroScience as it exists today. He has worked to make EnviroScience a renowned company with a national reputation as an environmental solution provider. He not only works on the company but in the company.

With over 30 years of experience at EnviroScience, Jamie has grown the business by educating the industry on how it can be profitable to do the right thing when faced with environmental challenges and opportunities.

Drawing from his expertise as a biologist and an educator, Jamie developed training protocols that perfectly marry the science and the business of a hands-on approach. It is this approach that empowers our staff of more than 150 scientists and professionals to provide environmental solutions in any environment.

Jamie has overseen the management and execution of over 10,000 site evaluations nationally, reinforcing his expertise in all varieties of biological evaluations. Reiss Warren

Reiss Warren joined EnviroScience in 2016, and has years of environmental compliance, geology, natural resources, and permitting experience. He possesses a well-rounded background and has applied his skills in over 20 states for projects on private, state, and federally-owned land ranging from 1 to 2,500 acres.

As a Geologist and Wetland Scientist, Reiss assists in performing Phase I / Phase II site assessments, industrial compliance, well monitoring, wetland, and stream identification delineation, hydrologic determination, habitat quality evaluation, vegetation surveys, threatened and endangered species surveys, agency coordination, section 404/401 permitting, technical report writing, and project management.

Reiss has experience with regulatory agencies across the country and regularly coordinates with agencies on behalf of his clients. He is certified to perform hydrologic determinations in Tennessee and surveys for the state-endangered Streamside Salamander.
