Dominic Nardis brings over 40 years of work experience in bearing and steel & manufacturing to the team — including nearly 25 years in environmental affairs. As a Certified Professional Environmental Auditor, he has inspected and corrected environmental concerns at facilities in the US, Europe, South America, Africa, and Asia. With a strong foundation in Solid Waste, Water Treatment, Permitting, and Auditing, he has delivered cost-effective solutions to some of the most difficult regulatory problems.

Alex Tite

EnviroScience Laboratory Technical Supervisor Alex Tite

A valued member of the EnviroScience team since 2015, Alex Tite is our Laboratory Technical Supervisor and WET Operations Manager.

Alex joined the team as a laboratory technician and moved into the supervisor position in July 2021. In this role, she is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of services performed by laboratory personnel meet rigorous standards for quality assurance and quality control and that bioassay tests are conducted in accordance with the appropriate state and federal environmental regulations. She is also responsible for overseeing proficiency testing and annual DMR QA tests that state and federal certifying agencies require.

Alex graduated from Kent State University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Conservation Biology and a minor in Geography. Her education has led her to pursue a career in environmental biology and her role in the laboratory. Our laboratory division focuses primarily on toxicity testing, specializing in National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) evaluations and doing full-scale toxicity evaluations (TIE/TRE).

Since Alex has been a part of the EnviroScience team, she has had the opportunity to work on a couple of exciting projects as well, including the Dredged Sediment Toxicity and Bioaccumulation Tests (May/June 2015) and the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control Sediment Toxicity Tests (July/August 2018).  While working at EnviroScience, Alex has also received certification through the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) to conduct enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay testing (ELISA) for Cyanotoxin detection.

Jim Sargiovanni

EnviroScience Environmental Inspection Practice Area Lead Jim Sargiovanni

An integral member of the EnviroScience staff since 2012, Jim Sargiovanni, II, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Conservation Biology from Kent State University. He is a Certified Erosion, Sediment, and Storm Water Inspector (CESSWI) and holds an Inspection and Maintenance Certification for Storm Water Control Measures in the State of Ohio. 

As Practice Area Lead of Compliance Services at EnviroScience, Jim oversees the Environmental Stormwater Inspection Group—managing projects and professionals for environmental inspections that follow Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) guidelines for proper management of stormwater during and post-construction. A consummate professional, he ensures that Best Management Practices (BMPs) for land conservation are always employed during all SWPPP environmental inspections. 

Prior to joining the EnviroScience team, Jim worked for The Nature Conservancy controlling invasive plants throughout the preserve. In addition to Jim’s extensive experience with invasive control methods and applications, his expertise extends to Ohio flora and tree identification—including planting, care, and maintenance.

    Rhonda Mendel

    EnviroScience Senior Macroinvertebrate Taxonomist & Quality Assurance Officer Rhonda Mendel

    Senior Macroinvertebrate Taxonomist & Quality Assurance Officer Rhonda Mendel has been with EnviroScience since 2002 and has decades of taxonomic experience with macroinvertebrates. 

    Rhonda received an M.S. in Aquatic Entomology from the University of Maine at Orono and a B.S. in Biology from Grove City College. Her responsibilities at EnviroScience include the identification of freshwater macroinvertebrates and calculating community indices according to state and federal standard protocols, as well as quality assurance of macroinvertebrate sampling conducted by the company. 

    Additionally, Rhonda teaches taxonomic workshops to identify chironomid midges for water quality evaluations. She remains active in the environmental field by presenting research papers at regional and national meetings. 

    Rhonda has many qualifications, including:

    In addition to her responsibilities with the macroinvertebrate laboratory, Rhonda also serves as EnviroScience’s Quality Assurance Officer.     Kevin Reed

    EnviroScience Aquatic Operations Manager Kevin Reed

    Kevin Reed has been an integral member of the EnviroScience team since graduating from Clarion University of Pennsylvania in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology.

    As the Aquatic Operations Manager for the Natural Resources Practice Area, Kevin is responsible for large, complex project management, fisheries technical leadership, and leading field crews completing diverse and complicated projects for private, state, and federal agencies.

    He specializes in aquatic biology and fisheries ecology and has years of experience performing aquatic surveys in many watersheds throughout the northeastern and midwestern United States.

    In addition to his experience with aquatic surveys, Kevin has extensive experience performing environmental monitoring and sampling for surface water, sediment, groundwater, and soil for multiple projects and applications.

    His relevant experience has earned him the status of an Ohio EPA Level 3 Qualified Data Collector for Chemical Water Quality Assessment. Additionally, he has been an Emergency Response team member during his time with EnviroScience.

    Kevin keeps himself immersed in the outdoors in his personal life with his passion for hunting and fishing. On the weekends, he enjoys working on house projects and camping with his wife or spending nights around a fire with family and friends.

    Krista Tomasello

    EnviroScience Biologist & Logistics Coordinator Krista Tomasello

    Krista Tomasello has been with EnviroScience since 2010 and works as an experienced biologist in our Ecological Services practice area. Krista has over 11 years of experience in biological fieldwork, including waterway quality assessments, habitat assessments, ecological emergency response, and endangered species surveys.

    Over the years, she has also gained extensive experience in project management and preparing various ecological reports and permit applications for large clients, including those for Ohio EPA NPDES and 404 Nationwide Permits.

    In addition to her role as a biologist at EnviroScience, Krista also serves as the Company’s Logistics Coordinator. She maintains the company calendar and assists company operations in staffing and scheduling employees for emergency responses and large-scale projects to ensure employees are being efficiently utilized at all EnviroScience locations.

    Krista also manages EnviroScience’s training and certification tracking software to ensure EnviroScience’s employees are staying up to date with training and job-specific certifications to maintain compliance. Her responsibilities as the logistics coordinator also include managing EnviroScience’s fleet software that ensures the company’s 60+ vehicles are properly shared, utilized, and maintained.

    Krista is an Ohio EPA Level 3 Qualified Data Collector for Water Quality Assessments.

    Jonathan Schwartz

    Schwartz

    Based in the Nashville office, Jonathan joins EnviroScience in 2014, where he will assist with emergency response and long-term sampling and monitoring operations. Jonathan joins ES from a previous environmental firm where he first worked as a field technician on several NRDA studies in the Gulf of Mexico region following the 2010 oil spill. After a year of working in the field on studies whose focal resources ranged from aquatic vegetation to shrimp, oysters, and Gulf sturgeon (profile picture), he was promoted to a coordinator role, where he was responsible for scheduling and managing field staff for 4 different NRDA studies. He was also involved in the development of health and safety plans, data analysis, and technical reporting, while continuing in field work.  Jonathan previously worked in various labs within the Duke University biology department.

    Jonathan is certified in 40 hour HAZWOPER, HUET and Water Survival, and NAUI Open Water SCUBA diving. He is a native of North Carolina and graduate of Duke University with a B.S. in Biology. He is currently taking classes part-time to pursue a Master’s degree in Geospatial Analytics from North Carolina State University, and is proficient in ArcGIS desktop software.




    Matt Banas

    EnviroScience Environmental Inspection Project ManagerMatt Banas, a graduate of Kent State University with a degree in Conservation Biology, joined EnviroScience’s Environmental Inspection Group in January 2015, where his primary responsibility is managing and performing environmental inspections of construction sites in the utility industry.

    Matt provides construction oversight and compliance monitoring throughout all phases of construction. He is also responsible for reviewing and sending weekly progress and environmental compliance reports to director-level employees and government agency personnel, as well as managing non-NPDES (National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System) Pipeline Infrastructure Replacement (PIR) projects in the Cleveland, Ohio region. He is familiar with Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and Best Management Practices (BMPs) used in erosion and sediment control on active construction sites through schooling and training.

    Matt began his career completing wetland restoration and performing invasive plant management in wetlands across Ohio. He also assisted with native plantings, stream restoration, and endangered species surveys. While at The Nature Conservancy, he volunteered to work with invasive plant management at Herrick Fen. Additionally, he has received training for Primary Headwater Habitat Biological Assessment through the Ohio EPA and Asbestos Asphalt Coated-Pipe Wrap Removal through TSI, as well as being a Certified Erosion, Sediment, and Stormwater Inspector (CESSWI) through Envirocert.

    Matt also holds a life-long passion for life outdoors. When he is not catching up on the latest nature documentary or backpacking across the backwoods of Pennsylvania, Matt enjoys smoking up some tasty meats on his Trager Pro 575 for his wife and two kids.

    Paul Anderson

    Mr. Paul Anderson holds a B.S. degree in Biology from the University of Minnesota and an M.S. degree in Aquatic Ecology from Kent State University. Working as a Senior Scientist within the ecological services division of EnviroScience, Inc. from 2013 to 2023, Paul recently retired and is now focused on the Stream Habitat Evaluation Training Courses he offers through his company, Spring from the Source, LLC, DBA Ohio Stream Assessment Training.

    Paul has over 35 years of professional experience, including 18 years of experience as a field biologist with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Division of Surface Water. He has coordinated and implemented numerous projects relating to the study of biological conditions, water and sediment quality, and habitat integrity of aquatic resources. 

    While at Ohio EPA, Paul assessed streams and inland lakes to determine the attainment of chemical and biological water quality criteria. He also developed plans to preserve and protect aquatic resources through the preparation of integrated water quality and Total Maximum Daily Load reports. Paul played a key role in the development of protocols to establish the Ohio EPA nearshore Lake Erie monitoring program currently being conducted by Ohio EPA.

    He was also active in water quality assessment, remedial projects, and habitat improvement projects for the Black River and the Ashtabula River Great Lakes Areas of Concern. Paul and his colleagues at the Ohio EPA developed an aquatic life use classification system and evaluation protocols for Primary Headwater Habitat stream ecosystems. He also worked to develop a statewide protocol for the evaluation of stream mitigation requirements related to 401 Water Quality Certifications for stream and Lake Erie estuary impacts in Ohio for incorporation into the Ohio water quality standards.

    Paul holds Level 3 Qualified Data Collector status for Water Chemistry and Fish Community Biology through the Ohio EPA Credible Data Program (CDP). He is also a Qualified Trainer for stream habitat and fish community assessment using Ohio EPA methodologies through the CDP.

    Max Koran

    Max Koran Virginia EnviroScience

    Max Koran joined EnviroScience in 2011, providing expertise in systems ecology, hydrogeology, sedimentology, remote sensing, and biogeochemistry. He is recognized as an industry expert in the field of emergency response—staffing and managing over 100 train derailments for Class 1 railroads across the eastern and central portions of the United States. 

    Max holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Cleveland State University. In addition, he has completed the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers wetland delineation training, HAZWOPER 40-hour training, OSHA Stormwater Management training, and RCRA hazardous waste training.

    Max’s diverse academic background has allowed him to provide technical assistance on a variety of projects, including wetland delineations, water quality assessments, sediment sampling efforts, environmental compliance on construction sites, ecological restoration, Section 106 coordination, and threatened and endangered species habitat identification.

    In his current role as an environmental scientist, Max provides extensive environmental and cultural resource due diligence support for the solar industry. He is also responsible for technical report preparation and has prepared scientific journal articles for peer-reviewed publications.  

    In his free time, he performs independent research in the field of zymology.
