Joanne Pem Wins Employee Seat on Board

EnviroScience Assistant Project Manager of Marine Services Joanne Pem

EnviroScience Assistant Project Manager of Marine Services Joanne PemWe are thrilled to announce that our very own Joanne Pem has been elected to the Employee Board Seat of ACRT Services marking a historic milestone for EnviroScience. Joanne is the first employee from EnviroScience to be elected to this prestigious position, demonstrating her exceptional leadership and commitment to our mission. Her election is not only a testament to her professional prowess but also a reflection of the high regard in which she is held by her peers and colleagues.

A Triumph in a Competitive Field

Joanne’s journey to this role was no small feat. She competed against four other formidable candidates, all part of the ACRT Services family. The election process involved presenting in front of a large audience of ACRT Services employees, showcasing her vision and dedication. Joanne’s success in this competitive election underscores her exceptional capabilities and the trust and confidence that the broader ACRT Services community has in her.

The Unique Structure of ACRT Services’ ESOP

ACRT Services is a 100% employee-owned organization, a structure that aligns perfectly with our values at EnviroScience. Our ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) is designed to be inclusive, with participation open to all employees after three years of service, provided they meet certain eligibility criteria. One of the standout features of our ESOP is the allocation of two board seats to peer-elected employee directors. These directors serve two-year terms, the first year as an associate director for learning and the second year as a voting director.

Joanne will step into the associate director role as Rian Owens steps up to the voting director. She will spend her first year learning and participating in quarterly board meetings and various subcommittees, preparing to take on full voting responsibilities in her second year.

A Leader in Marine Services

Professionally, Joanne is the cornerstone of our Marine Services team. Her knowledge, organizational skills, and unwavering support make her an invaluable asset to EnviroScience. Joanne’s ability to consistently perform at the highest level while fostering a collaborative and supportive environment is a testament to her leadership and dedication.

In addition to her win on the ACRT Services Board of Directors, Joanne recently won Employee of the Month at EnviroScience. Perhaps best described by Corporate Vice President Greg Zimmerman, who nominated her, “Joanne is a proactive leader and works between Operations, Accounting, Human Resources, and Leadership to solve problems and improve processes. In the past month, she handled over 20 DOT teaming requests and was a great Client Advocate, inputting DOT pricing and improving Quality by identifying and proposing solutions to a critical accounting issue that will recoup tens of thousands of dollars. She did this all while balancing the birth of her granddaughter and other personal responsibilities.”

A Beloved Colleague

On a personal level, Joanne is immensely well-liked within EnviroScience. Her positive attitude, willingness to help, and approachable nature make her a cherished colleague. Her election to the board is not only a professional achievement but also a celebration of her personal qualities that endear her to all of us.

Looking Forward

We are confident that Joanne will bring her unique perspective, expertise, and enthusiasm to the ACRT Services board, representing EnviroScience with distinction. Her participation will undoubtedly contribute to the ongoing success and innovation of ACRT Services and its family of companies.

Please join us in congratulating Joanne Pem on this remarkable achievement. We are excited to support her in this new role and look forward to the positive impact she will undoubtedly make.
