ES Divers Conduct Large Coral Reef Survey in Guam

June 1st marks the beginning of World Oceans Month, as well as World Reef Awareness Day. As part of this important event, EnviroScience is pleased to share photos from phase one fieldwork we recently completed for a large coral reef monitoring project in Guam.

With fantastic support from local captains and experts, a highly skilled ES crew of six managed by Vice President Greg Zimmerman conducted an intensive marine survey of the fore reef, reef shelf, and reef flat of two bays. Throughout April, our marine biologists surveyed 55 locations in the North Pacific Ocean—at depths up to 75 feet—for federally listed species. Additional fieldwork and reporting are planned for the coming months.

An experienced diver, coral reef enthusiast, and approved freshwater mussel surveyor, Vice President Greg Zimmerman embodies the EnviroScience spirit. Not only is Greg always at the ready and willing to roll up his sleeves (or, in this case, slip into a wetsuit) to lend a hand or lead the charge, but his enthusiasm for taking on new projects like this and the work we do as a whole to understand the environment is contagious.

If you are passionate about environmental science, we encourage you to join the ES family. You might be surprised where the work will take you! Our team of expert biologists, commercial and scientific divers, environmental scientists, and environmental engineers—and the breadth of our capabilities—continues to grow.
