EnviroScience is a proud community partner for the 19th Annual Clean Your Streams Day hosted by Partners for Clean Streams. The event is always a success and we are looking forward to supporting this cause.

This year on September 19th, more than a thousand volunteers are expected to show up to clean up over 60 “high profile, high impact” river sites around the Toledo area. Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds meet in groups and head towards a site of their choosing. Read more about the event here.

The event not only results in cleaner natural water resources, but also aims to collect data about the volume and type of trash plaguing our rivers. Volunteers are given data cards to record what type of trash is found, which is later reported to the Ohio’s Coastweek’s program PCS-Logo(color)and the International Coastal Cleanup for research. Last year, the most common trash items were cigarette butts, bottle caps, and straws.

Partners for Clean Streams also holds fun contests during the event. For example, volunteers have a chance to win awards and trophies for greatest number of bags filled. Winners are awarded at the picnic after the event.

Join us on September 19th! Register for the event here.
