EnviroScience, Inc. would like to congratulate Joanne Pem as a recipient of the “Stand for Generosity” award.   Dennis McMichael, Vice President of McMichael Insurance, presented the award to Joanne at the EnviroScience headquarters on Wednesday, March 15th, 2017.

The award was founded by McMichael Insurance to recognize Streetsboro residents who have shown generous acts of kindness.  Joanne received a $500 check.

Joanne was nominated primarily for her work at the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad’s Polar Express, a seasonal program that gives children an unforgettable ride to the North Pole.  There, Joanne is better known as “Elf Hollie”.  Not only does Joanne volunteer as a head elf regularly, but she also started a program that raises funds to get tickets for families that otherwise could not afford the holiday Volunteer-Joanne-Pemexperience.  In just one year she was able to put several families on the train and hand deliver the tickets to the families’ houses with Santa by her side.  She also raises additional funds to make sure the kids have pajamas, snacks, and other goodies for the experience, and even Christmas presents from Santa, if needed.  Read more.

Joanne also received the 2016 Centennial Volunteer Challenge award from the National Park Service for completing over 200 hours of volunteer time to help preserve the parks.

Joanne joined EnviroScience in 2013 as the administrator for EnviroScience’s Marine Services division.  Her generosity both inside and outside of the workplace is extremely admirable and EnviroScience looks forward to supporting her Polar Express program in the upcoming years.
