EnviroScience Biologist Wins 1st Place in Akron Marathon

Congratulations to Environmental Inspector Israel Merkle for placing first in the 2018 Akron Marathon out of nearly 9,000 runners. Israel finished the full marathon in two hours, 26 minutes and 25 seconds, crossing the finish line at about 9:30am. This win follows Israel placing first in the Erie Marathon on September 9th.

Israel is an accomplished runner, placing fifth in the Akron Marathon in 2017 and third in 2016. He also placed second this year in the Goodyear Half Marathon and 10k in August.

In 2016, Israel placed 83rd overall in the Boston Marathon, which placed him in the top 0.3% of all runners (27,491 runners total). Israel was the fastest male from Northeast Ohio.

EnviroScience is proud to have employees who strive for excellence in multiple areas. As we congratulate Israel, his response was one of gratitude: “It’s amazing to work at a place that facilitates my passion, where I am surrounded by great people that support me.  I have received a lot of recognition from everyone here at EnviroScience through the years as I have been doing what I love.” Congratulations again Israel and to all others who competed in the Akron Marathon!
