Environmental Seminar Draws Attendees from Multiple Industries

STOW, OH—On October 13, 2016 nearly 100 developers, contractors, consultants, regulatory experts, industry representatives, and environmental attorneys from across the country gathered at the Heritage Barn in Stow, Ohio to sharpen their knowledge on environmental regulations and trends.

Most presenters were specialists from EnviroScience, Inc., who have decades of experience in environmental assessment and restoration.  EnviroScience was pleased to welcome special guest William S. Cox of Lightfoot, Franklin, & White, LLC, who covered the topic of environmental law with a presentation entitled “Lawyers—A Necessary ‘Evil’.”

The seminar agenda covered a wide array of topics, the first round concerning rare, threatened, and endangered species.   Bat Ecologist Jamie Willaman’s presentation on listed species such as the Indiana and Northern Long-Eared Bats was a hot topic, with many questions about coordination.  The presentation that followed from Aquatic Biologist Nicole Jordan was on the newly listed, federally endangered Big Sandy and Guyandotte River Crayfish.  Among the presenters was also Julie Bingham, head of Restoration Services at EnviroScience.  She and Conservation Specialist Neal Hess provided helpful tips on how to approach ecological restoration financing and development. Other topics included threatened and endangered mussels and plants, stream and wetland permitting, environmental emergency response, and environmental compliance.

Following the seminar, attendees were invited on a tour of EnviroScience’s headquarters in Stow, Ohio. Those who toured the facility appreciated seeing the wide range of equipment and demonstrations of the scientific capacity of the main office, from large bays filled with commercial dive boats and technology, to the bioassay laboratory filled with state-of-the-art microscopes.  Attendees also had the opportunity to network with other key decision makers in their respective fields and chat with EnviroScience biologists and scientists. EnviroScience is pleased with the overall success of the seminar and looks forward to holding future seminars for the benefit of both clients and non-clients alike.
